Interest Groups
All groups are open to interested persons from the Branch and the Community of New Smyrna beach. Suggestions for starting a new interest group are welcome.
Cindy Lovell

  • Avid Readers meets once a month at the home of a member. Chair: Lois Bertram.
  • Creative Writing meets once a month at the home of a member. Chair: Gerry Tatham
  • Bridge meets every second and fourth Tuesday   of the month at noon. Players must register by the Friday before the game. The game is Standard American Rubber Bridge and is played at the Putter Club in NSB. Starts with a lunch at noon. Facilitators: Peg Shields, Sheila Green.
  • International Relations hosts a series of lectures on International issues. Speakers are experts in their fields. The talks are open to the community and are presented in the NSB Utilities Commission Building.

Community Action
Contact the Coordinator Audrey Kilpatrick for information.
  • Scholarship Committee meets in April/May to select candidates to receive college scholarships. Candidates must be from the local area, high school seniors or attending a community or four-year college.
         Chair: Susan Mallow
  • Black Heritage Committee participates with civic leaders in the planning and presentation at the annual Black Heritage Festival in NSB. Volunteers needed.  Call  Mary Harrell 428-6225.
  • Mentor Committee members provide assistance, encouragement and advice to students at risk in the middle school, high school and local community colleges.
         Chair: Jo Kelton
  • Adult Literacy tutors are needed to work with the Volusia County Literacy Council to improve adult reading skills.  Instruction and learning aids are available..  If interested call  -Audrey Kilpatrick 428-3141

Members are invited to join in an activity that provides intellectual stimulation, social contact or is just plain fun!
