October Meeting and Other Dates

Our first regular meeting will be held at 11:00, Saturday, October 14th at Riverview Charlie's.  Board members will be calling on Oct. 4, 5 & 6 to confirm your reservation (the count must be in by the 7th), or, you can call Jane Murphy at 426-6622.  The entrée will be chicken and pineapple salad, and the cost is $11.00  We will meet on the lower level -

watch for signs.  Thanks to Jane Murphy for making the arrangements.   Georgia Keefe has the new handbooks ready and will be distributing them at the meeting.

Cluster Meeting -
Saturday, November 18, 9:00 am - 1:45, Palmetto Club, 1000 Beach St., Daytona Beach. 
Dr. Patrick Coggins, Stetson University, will speak about violence in the schools.

Audrey Kirkpatrick has taken on the role of Community Activities coordinator and has some wonderful ideas for promoting adult literacy.  Audrey has been studying the Laubach Literacy method for tutoring illiterate adults.  Please call Audrey at 428-3141 for more information on what could be our newest community outreach program.

Scholarship Fund is Tax Exempt

Thanks to the hard work of members Joan Bringardner, Jane Wylen, Joan Nulty, and Alex Sterling, and to accountant Brad Douglas and attorney Robert Bailey, our scholarship fund is officially tax exempt.  This group has been dedicated to this very detailed pro

Teddy Bears to Bring Bucks

Alex Sterling continues to come up with new ideas.  She and Gerry Tatham are working on a new fundraising project - fashionable teddy bears that are more than cute and cuddly.  These bears are also well-dressed.  The bears will be 10" and will sport a hand-knit sweater bearing (pun intended) the phrase "AAUW 20"!  Knitting
